Prediction of creep ductility for austenitic stainless steels and copper

چکیده
For modern creep-resistant steels, ductility is primarily controlled by cavitation, since brittle rupture dominating during long-term service. In recent years, the present authors have formulated fundamental models for nucleation and growth of cavities that been verified to be able describe experiments austenitic stainless steels. These equations, together with dislocation creep, are used in this paper basic modelling results creep steels first time. New also presented ductile rupture, where elongation values mainly governed plastic instability necking. The Hart criterion identify strain forms. Modelling shows grows very slowly its size not significant until close rupture. facts demonstrate can predicted from necking behaviour.

Neural network model of creep strength of austenitic stainless steels
The creep rupture life and rupture strength of austenitic stainless steels have been expressed as functions of chemical composition, test conditions, stabilisation ratio, and solution treatment temperature . The method involved a neural network analysis of a vast and general database assembled from published data. The outputs of the model have been assessed against known metallurgical trends an...
متن کاملLow-Temperature Carburization of Austenitic Stainless Steels
LOW-TEMPERATURE CARBURIZATION is a gaseous carburization process performed at atmospheric pressure, at temperatures where the kinetics of substitutional diffusion are very slow. Low-temperature carburization hardens the surface of austenitic stainless steels through the diffusion of interstitial carbon, without the formation of carbides. The surface must be activated, by modification and remova...
متن کاملDevelopment of Alumina-Forming Austenitic Stainless Steels
This paper presents the results of the continued development of creep-resistant, alumina-forming austenitic (AFA) stainless steel alloys, which exhibit a unique combination of excellent oxidation resistance via protective alumina (Al2O3) scale formation and high-temperature creep strength through the formation of stable nano-scale MC carbides and intermetallic precipitates. Efforts in fiscal ye...
متن کاملY Studies on Austenitic Stainless Steels
Abstract--In this investigation, the fracture surfaces of SS 304 and SS 316 austenitic steels were analysed using the X-ray fractography technique. In both cases, a decrease in the austenite content was observed at the fracture surface as a result of deformation induced martensite, indicating a linear relation with Km~ within the stable crack growth region. The presence of this martensite was f...
متن کاملDislocation Strengthening without Ductility Trade-off in Metastable Austenitic Steels
Strength and ductility are mutually exclusive if they are manifested as consequence of the coupling between strengthening and toughening mechanisms. One notable example is dislocation strengthening in metals, which invariably leads to reduced ductility. However, this trend is averted in metastable austenitic steels. A one-step thermal mechanical treatment (TMT), i.e. hot rolling, can effectivel...
